The Tilbury Green Power project demonstrates Greenvolt and Equitix commitment to renewable energy and further reducing their carbon footprint.
The plant owners, Greenvolt and Equitix point out that the generated power is equivalent to powering approximately 70,000 homes.
Senior debt funding has been provided by the Danish Export Credit Agency (Eksport Kredit Fonden), Investec and Rabobank.
Reducing Waste in London City
The Tilbury Green Power (TGP) power plant, with a net electrical output of 40 MWe, is fuelled with recycled waste wood e.g. from contruction sites.
Due to the location close to London, directly by the River Thames, the power plant helps in reducing the amount of waste in the city. The plant consumes approx. 270,000 tonnes of waste wood per year, which is sourced from the local catchment area. The plant created approx. 370 jobs duing the construction phase and approx. 50 permanent jobs in on-going operations.
Turnkey Delivery
AET and BWSC were responsible for construction and now for operation and maintenance of the biomass-fired power plant throughout a 20-year period.
The TGP plant commenced operations in 2017.
