The Western Wood Energy Power Plant (WWEP) is a biomass-fired power plant with an annual fuel input of 160,000 tonnes of forestry wood or clean, uncontaminated residues from wood processing.

The O&M of the complete plant was carried out through a GB registered O&M company partly-owned by AET and supported by the team in Aalborg.

The O&M contract had a duration of 5 years after which extension of the contract can be negotiated.

  • The Western Wood Energy Plant in Wales, United Kingdom (GB), with the AET state-of-the-art combustion plant, has been in operation since 2008 following a successful two-year construction period. With its high load factor, the plant is one of the best performing biomass plants in GB. The plant took the honours in the Sustainability category at the LABC Building Excellence Awards.
